Micropropagation

In this podcast, Ellis Smith from the American Cannabis Company, and Dr. Mitch Day, an expert in tissue culture and bioinformatics, discuss cannabis micropropagation, a technique for precision cloning.

The benefits of micropropagation in cannabis include reducing the risk for microbial infections, as well as reducing labor costs and space requirements. And, while the technology can seem intimidating, the presentation reminds growers, “Micropropagation is not rocket science.”

Ultrasonic Liquid Processing

Joined by Alexey Peshkovsky, Ph. D., in this podcast, Smith provides a thorough question and answer session regarding Ultrasonic Liquid Processing for Cannabis Extraction and Emulsification.

In this video, these two cannabis industry experts provide valuable answers to a range of questions regarding nanoformulations, cannabis beverage emulsification, and cannabinoid sonication. Just a few of the covered questions include:

  • What is the maximum mg per ml of cbd/cannabinoids that can fit without compromising optical translucency stability in a finished product?
  • Could administering cannabinoids in nanoemulsions affect the distribution in the body and, ultimately, the pharmacodynamics of the compounds?
  • Can you discuss the demulsification capabilities of sonication?

Review the answers to these questions and others in the video here:

Cannabinoid Extraction Purification

In this video, Ellis discusses using fast centrifugal partition chromatography, or FCPC, for producing purified plant extracts with Dr. Nikos Xynos from the French company Rousselet Robtel Kromaton. The three-step extraction process involves separation, enrichment, and purification to target the various cannabinoids and terpenes in a stable and efficient manner.
